Yom Kippur
Tonight begins Yom Kippur, the Jewish day of atonement. For me, it begins my annual college ritual of repenting my sins in general, and in particular the sin of not fasting during Yom Kippur. It strikes me as somewhat of a cop-out, but I do what I can.
To anyone who is being a better Jew than I tonight, I wish you an easy fast.

Definitely the most difficult day of the year and it's not because I'm hungry. I find the following always helps me: marvel at the potency of Jewish guilt and look forward to the day you get to inflict it upon your children. It sort of makes me chuckle - which for all I know probably also makes it a sin.
Came across your post after just struggling with some Yom Kippur issues of my own. I always fast, but not very gracefully. ;-) Gmar chatima tova
